Shoes! One of my favorite pieces to buy and wear. They are loyal, when other pieces in my wardrobe aren’t. I don’t have to worry if I ate too many carbs before slipping them on. They almost always fit perfectly. The right shoe for your body type isn’t a mystery anymore. I am showing you which types of shoes will accentuate your body type and which ones to avoid.
Shoes are similar to pants when it comes to the hourglass body. Your options for shoes is endless. The best shoe for your body type is pretty much whatever one you, well… within reason. Not the old, banged up heels or sneakers that are on their last leg. You can wear pointy, wedges, platform and even some ankle strap sandals. If you are on the shorter side for an hourglass, I would avoid the ankle straps because they can make you look shorter. But if you are tall, go ahead and rock them! The hourglass can wear knee high boots but I would avoid chunky heels. You are already balanced so wearing too chunky of a heel will make you look bottom heavy.
The goal for the inverted triangle is to lessen the effect of the broad shoulders and bring the eye down. The best shoe for your body type is one that is delicate and slim. Stilettos and bright colored pumps should be your best friend. Avoid platform shoes, they will make you look top heavy and bottom heavy… never a good combo.
Lengthening your lower body is the goal for the triangle. Any heel will help achieve this goal. The right shoe for your body type is any shoe that has a heel, even if it’s a kitten heel. Since most of your weight is carried in the lower body, lengthening it will give the appearance of a more balanced lower half. Stay away from over the knee boots, they will only draw attention to your wider hips. Opt for just under the knee boots so there is still some distance between the hips and boots.
Oval women will find it easy to find the right shoe for your body type. You are blessed! Similar to the hourglass you can pull off almost any pair of shoes. The only ones I suggest to avoid are slim, dainty shoes. These will make you look top heavy. Opt for any other type of shoes: wedges, platform, ballet flats, or strappy sandals.
Having long & lean legs make it easy to find the right shoe for your body type. Do you have a favorite style of shoes? Guess what?!?!? You can wear it. The only thing I would avoid for the rectangle body type is overly thin heels. You can wear chunky heels, flats, pointy heels, OTK boots, or booties confidently.
