Some of my favorite pieces are basics and they happen to be black. I have been mixing and matching all black outfits this fall with my basics and I am loving the results. All black outfits have been my go-to lately for everything…working with a client, date night & play dates. Today, I am sharing how you can pull off this look with the right pieces for your body type.

all black outfits: hourglass body type
Rocking the all black for the hourglass body type is fun! The issue that you need to be concerned about is your figure getting lost in the color. Make sure to keep your waist defined either with a belt or tucking in your shirt. Other pieces that would work is black body con dress.
inverted triangle black outfits
Creating balance among the hips & shoulders are key. Tops that hit at the hip will help give you that. Also look for pants that have side pockets at the hip. Skirts that bow out on the bottom will also help.
triangle all black outfits
If you’ve been following The Body Type Stylist, then I’m sure you know that I am a big believer in darker colors on bottom for triangles with lighter colors on top to balance out the figure. But you can still rock the all black outfit trend by making sure to show off the shoulders or draw the eye up with a statement necklace. The off the shoulder top will give that balance as well as a jacket on top that has structure in the shoulder.
rectangle body type outfits
There are two types of rectangle body types: the athletic and round. I’ll start with the athletic body type.
Having an athletic body type means creating curves. Mixing a crop top with a high waisted skirt with a little skin showing in between creates a waist line. A wide belt will also give the same illusion. Not interested in wearing a belt or showing some skin? Opt for skinny jeans & a black blouse.
Round Rectangle? Aka, the apple body type. Use a blazer with a high waisted button to help structure the waist. Empire waists work great with the rectangle body type and so do shift dresses.
