Fall Fashion tips for the rectangle body type (aka athletic) are all about creating curves. The goal is to create the illusion of a waist & bust. If you still need to discover your body type, check out my post on how to discover it here. Let’s dive in:
TOPS EVERY RECTANGLE BODY TYPE NEEDS THIS FALL
Creating curves is the goal with the rectangle body type. Your lack of curves and undefined waist needs to be balanced out. This can be done by wearing clothes & accessories that bring attention to the bust & waist. Avoid tight or fitted clothes because they will only emphasize your straight up & down figure.
Top Do’s:
- embellishments or pockets around bust or shoulders
- flowy tops
- off the shoulder
Top Don’ts:
- fitted tops
- vertical lines
- square necklines
Off the shoulder tops are perfect for the rectangle body type. They give the illusion of a defined waist by drawing attention up to the shoulders. Details on the shoulders also does the same thing.
FALL FASHION TIPS FOR THE RECTANGLE BODY TYPE- BOTTOMS
The rectangle body type needs to keep the focus on the shoulders and defining a waist. This body type can pull off fuller fabrics on bottom like pleated skirts. I’ve always wanted to wear a pleated skirt but they just don’t look good on me. Please wear on for me.
Bottom Do’s:
- skinny jeans or pants
- large back pockets (husdon/true religion jeans)
- low rise
Bottom Don’ts:
- baggy styles
- too wide flare
- straight skirts
The rectangle body type can pull off low rise jeans and lighter colors on bottom. You can also pull off prints on pants easier to. If you’re up for it, play around with prints and flowy tops & sweaters this fall. Get out of your comfort zone a little.
