The inverted triangle isn’t the most common body type but it’s out there enough that you’d notice it and I need to cover it. This body type is prevalent with models. Let’s explore the inverted triangle body type:
DISCOVER THE INVERTED TRIANGLE BODY TYPE
The inverted triangle body type has little definition between the waist and hips. The shoulders are the most prominent area on this body type and are at least 3 inches wider than the hips. On an inverted triangle the hips are straight and the thighs are thin.

If you are an inverted triangle the goal is to emphasize the lower half of your body while minimizing the shoulders. Filling out the lower half with create balance in your silhouette. Some inverted triangle have a large bust and you want to make sure you dress as not to look top heavy.
Here are some do’s & don’ts:
- add detail to lower half of body
- drop waists look great on this body type
- full skirts help emphasize the lower half
- balance the lower half with dark colors on top and lighter colors on bottom
- emphasize the shoulders with pads or fluffy sleeves
- wear bulky tops
