Winter Casual Outfits are one of my favorite outfits to pair together for my clients. I love all the textures and layers you can play around with. Today I’m sharing 4 items you can add to your wardrobe to create your own winter casual outfits easily.
Each body type has a different need but each can pull off these 4 items. Today I’m sharing what to look for by body type when buying a moto jacket, long cardigan, chunky sweater and fur vest. These little tweaks can make or break your look so pay attention to your body type do’s and don’ts.
Winter Casual Outfits: HOURGLASS
The hourglass body type has little worry about because it already has natural balance. What you need to look out for is overemphasizing one part over the other because then you will look out of proportion. The moto jacket, vest & long cardigan all have the same rules. Keep your waist defined by either tucking in, having a synch at the waist or using a belt. For the chunky sweater keep it above the hip line. If you have it land at the hip line you will only accentuate the hips and loose your defined waist. Here are items I think hourglass body types should have for casual winter outfits:
Winter Casual Outfits: OVAL
The oval body type needs to focus on accentuating curves and elongating the figure. Keep in mind that one goal is to tone down the mid section. Show off your amazing legs too! Having pockets at the hips in the long cardigan will help draw the eye down the body as well as keeping your shirt flowing over your midsection. Don’t wear anything too tight under the vest, cardigan or moto jacket. It will only make your midsection appear larger. A scoop or v neck is best on the chunky sweater and keep the length to a minimum. Too long of a chunky sweater will give the opposite effect and hide your great legs. Here are items I think oval body types should have for casual winter outfits:
Winter Casual Outfits: INVERTED TRIANGLE
Toning down the top half of the body is the goal with the inverted triangle. To achieve success with winter casual outfits add volume to the hips to create balance. Buy a belted moto jacket that hits at the hips or right above it. A long cardigan with draping and pockets at the hips will draw the eye down the body and take away any emphasis on the broader shoulders. The chunky sweater & fur vest that sits nicely at the hips is perfect for the inverted triangle body type, again because it draws the eye down creating balance among the halves. Here are items I think inverted triangle body types should have for casual winter outfits:
Winter Casual Outfits: TRIANGLE
The triangle body type is bigger on bottom. The whole goal is create balance among the upper half. This can be done using the moto jacket and vest if you have the length hit in the right spot. You need it to hit right below the natural waist and higher than the hips. If it hits at the hips all you are doing is drawing attention them and making you look bigger than you really are. The long cardigan needs to hit well below the hip and above the knee. Keep it in a darker color so it drapes over the hips without drawing attention to them. For a chunky sweater try doing a partial tuck at the waist to show it off and this allows the hips to be exposed and not draw any attention there. Or keep your sweater on the shorter side. Here are items I think triangle body types should have for casual winter outfits:
Winter Casual Outfits: RECTANGLE
The rectangle body is all about creating curves and accentuating them. Lighter colors on top will help with this. Adding volume at the hips and shoulders is another trick I use. A hooded long cardigan with pockets at the hips is perfect for the rectangle body type. A belted long cardigan will work too. Layers under a fur vest create dimension and interest to the outfit. A scoop neck chunky sweater that hits right above the hips will help give some definition to the waist. I love a light colored moto jacket for rectangle body types. A lot of detail on them help create curves, like the one above. See how the collar is v’d and points do the waist and the belt around adds volume to give the appearance of a waist.
